If you look at the history of fabric patterns, there aren’t many that have the legacy that the Prince of Wales check does. Also known as Glen plaid or Glenurquhart check, the design traces its origins back to the 19th century. The pattern first came to prominence when it was used on a thick fabric by the Countess of Seafield to shield the people who looked over her grounds against the harsh winters of Glenurquhart, Scotland. Spotted and profoundly admired by the Prince of Wales - later King Edward VII - on one of his trips to Scotland, the pattern found its notoriety rise in the decades that followed. From royalty to presidents to James Bond and the likes, the infamous pattern is now a household name. Look through a style aficionado's wardrobe and you’d be hard pressed to not find a piece of garment in this beloved pattern. While designing this tie, we wanted to take the aesthetic of the print a step further and add a slight pop of colour that would make this commonly adorned pattern an instant eye-catcher. Hand-made with 100% mulberry silk, this beautiful tie has gorgeous woven detailing done in a bright purple hue. Perfect for a wedding or any other formal event, this limited-edition tie is a must-have.
